Lunging to Improved Performance Review 1 300x300 Lunging to Improved Performance DVD Review

I was contacted by a fellow fitness professional, John Izzo.

He asked me to review his new DVD on lunging.

It is always great to give a fellow fitness professional feedback on one of their products.

I know how much time goes into researching and developing them.

Since he sent me one of his DVDs, I sent him my Core Stability for the Rehab Client DVD set.

John was nice enough to review it and had some nice words to say about it:

“Rick Kaselj is a great exercise physiologist from Canada and a great presenter. His 3-disc DVD set Core Stability for the Rehab Client is a fantastic resource for trainers that work with anyone demonstrating postural deficiencies and post rehabilitative status.” – John Izzo

You can check out what else he had to say by clicking here.

Now to a review of John’s lunge DVD.

Initial Thoughts on Lunging to Improved Performance

I didn’t know what to expect from this DVD.

To be honest, I was not too excited about watching a video on lunging. I wondered how much more could I learn about the lunge and will this DVD give me any more information to help my clients.

To my surprise I learned a lot!

Kind Words About Muscle Imbalances Revealed

I knew that Muscle Imbalances Revealed was special and would be helping so many trainers, coaches and therapists but I did not know I would be staying up late after putting my kids to bed packaging up DVDs that would be doing to Alaska, Denmark, Russia, New Zealand and China.

It has been amazing to help so many fitness professionals out there.

Here are the kind words of other happy Muscle Imbalances Revealed fitness professional:

Hey Rick,

I’ve been a strength coach and trainer for over 10 years working primarily with masters athletes, many of whom compete in endurance events such as marathons, triathlons and biking. Muscle imbalances are very common in this population so it’s a topic I’ve been researching for many years to help my clients avoid injury and improve their performance.

I’m very impressed with the quality of information presented in the MIR course and it’s given me some great tools to add to my coaching toolbox. I believe the best way to build your business is to get your clients results and I’ve built a six figure business by providing great service to my clients. This course will help you do that. Clients who get results will rave about your skills and nothing beats word of mouth marketing. This course will put you on the leading edge and separate you from the rest of the training crowd. It’s a solid investment which will pay for itself in no time.

Great job Rick!

If you are reading this, you know I am big into injuries.

That is my thing.

That is what I see, live, breath and overcome.

Sometimes I think I am a little crazy to be focused on this.

I wanted to get a reality check about this injury thing, I thought I would walk up to Tom Plummer and ask him about injuries.

Since I have presented at number of fitness conferences, I know that presenters are easily reachable.  I know I love it when people come up and ask me questions.

I had been sitting in the audience for 6.3 hours and I have been listening to his recommendations when it comes to what fitness clubs should be doing and highlighting what fitness clubs are doing wrong.

As I walked up, I was not sure of what to expect.  Tom is a blunt guy.  It you are wrong or suck, he will let you know.

I thought he would say it is a crazy idea and I was wasting my time.

I waited my turn and asked.

Here goes my question:

“Tom, I don’t do group training or training in a club.  I do one-on-one training focusing on people with injuries.  Do you think I am crazy for being in this niche and is there a future in this niche?”

When I was running bootcamps last summer, I was always looking for bootcamp workouts .

One guy that had a lot of them, many of them I used in my bootcamps, is Craig Ballantyne.

Craig was generous enough to do an interview and share a bunch of his bootcamp workout secrets with you.

Before I get to the interview.  Let me give you a little background on Craig.

Craig is a trainer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  (We won’t hold that against him.)

Craig ran bootcamps in community centers.

He found that he had access to very minimal equipment.

Since he had limited equipment he began putting together bootcamp workouts with minimal equipment and in many cases just focused on bodyweight exercises.

His success lead him to showing other trainers how to do these types of workouts without having to worry about driving equipment around town or carrying boxes of equipment to the park.

Now other fitness profesionals have been using his bootcamp workoutsto get their bootcampers results.

Now to the interview.

5 Bootcamp Mistakes Fitness Professionals Make

In the interview, Craig will:

- Reveal the 5 Bootcamp Mistakes Fitness Professionals Make
- What to do about cardio in your bootcamps
- Lets us know who Craig Ballantyne is!
- Shares his experience leading bootcamps

The Nuts and Bolts of Corrective Exercise Seminar with Eric Cressey

Here is a quick video of Eric Cressey from the seminar:

This will be the fifth time that the I have hosted the Fitness & Rehab Conference.  It is amazing to think that it has made it to the big 5.  With it being the fifth, I wanted to make it bigger than any of the others so I went out looking for a big name to match the event.

I am so excited to announce Eric Cressey as the headliner of the 2010 Fitness & Rehab Conference.

I didn’t want him just to come all the way from Boston to talk for 90 and leave.  If he is he, I wanted him to talk for 14 hours so we all can have all of our questions answered by Eric and learn all we can from him.

3 Ways the Rotator Cuff Could be Causing Your Client’s Shoulder Impingement

Shoulder Impingement Exercises 270x300 3 Ways the Rotator Cuff Could be Causing Your Clients Shoulder ImpingementA common injury with the shoulder is shoulder impingement.  Rotator cuff exercises are important on helping your client recover from shoulder impingement.

What is Shoulder Impingement?

When the non-injured arm is at your side, there is about 6 to 14 mm of space in the subacromial space (the space between acromion and humerus).  As one moves their arm out to the side (abduction), the space in the subacromial space decreases.  With some people the humerus and acromion end up pinching the structures in the subacromial space.  The structures that could be pinching are the bursa, supraspinatus tendon or long head of the biceps tendon.  This pinching is called shoulder impingement.  Shoulder impingement is a big problem and commonly seen in my clients.  If shoulder impingement is not addressed it could lead to a partial or full tear of the rotator cuff.

3 Ways the Rotator Cuff Could be Causing Your Clients Shoulder Impingement
