How to Use Crossfit to Overcome a Brain Injury

2

Filed Under (Interviews) by Rick Kaselj on 10-10-2011

Today, I want to chat about brain injuries and Crossfit.

Mike has been on the blog before where he shared his traumatic brain injury story.  After he shared his story, I wanted to get him on the phone and interview him.

I have had this interview for a while but have not put it up.

The reason why is – Crossfit.

If there is anything that gets health & fitness professionals’ emotions going it is Crossfit.

Those that have done and do it, love it.

Those that have not, have a negative opinion to share.

I think Mike’s story really shows the good that can come out of it.

I saw my concussion client again today.

( This is a follow up on the blog post:  4 Tips to Training a Client with a Concussion )

I got to give him huge credit.

He was not pushed or forced to come see me.  He took the initiative to start exercising as he has been sitting at home for months.  He started feeling the weight packing on and he new he needed to get moving in order to get better.

What a champion!

I trained a client yesterday that was recovering from a concussion.

It has been some time since I had designed an exercise program for a client with a concussion.  When I worked in a Medical Rehabilitation Program and Occupational Rehabilitation Program, it was a regular thing.

Let me highlight a few things you need to keep in mind when training a client with a concussion.
