Postural Assessment and Exercise Prescription BCRPA CEC Course

Postural Assessment and Exercise Prescription BCRPA CEC Course

Posture is how your body is positioned and aligned relative to the ground. It can be measured by how your head, neck, back, and pelvis are stacked on top of each other.

A good posture can improve balance, help you avoid injury, and increase confidence. Posture is a term to describe the position one’s body assumes without having to think about it. In other words, it’s the natural alignment of one’s head, neck, spine, and pelvis. It has effects that go beyond just how you look or feel. Posture affects your mental state as well as your physical health. Posture affects your health in various ways, from increasing or decreasing discomfort in certain areas to affecting your breathing patterns. The results can be positive or negative, depending on how you maintain your posture.

Postural Assessment and Exercise Prescription

Course Description:

The mother understood the importance of posture. She encouraged us to “stand up straight” and “not to slouch.” Posture is vital; it has an impact on all that we do. Poor posture can increase one’s risk of injury and stress the body. This course will cover how to quickly and effectively assess posture and provide exercises to correct common postures. This practical course is hands-on. You will leave the system with helpful information to help your clients.

Course Objectives:

Please note: During the class, we will perform postural assessments. It is essential to wear clothing that allows for an accurate postural assessment. Please wear shorts or biking shorts, and a t-shirt or sports top.

This will be the only time this course will be offered in 2011, and I am not sure if I will teach it in 2012.

Course Fee:

The course fee includes a comprehensive and detailed course manual.
