The Fitness Industry and Injuries

Let us learn about the fitness industry and injuries as it is booming with new workout trends, technology, and equipment. With that boom comes an increased risk of injury. The more complicated a workout, the more likely you will get hurt. Many injuries happen due to overuse, which can occur when you push yourself too hard, too fast. Muscle strains and tears are common injuries among those who train without proper form and rest. Other common injuries include sprains and strains of the wrist, elbow, and shoulder joints; whiplash; sprains or strains of the knee joint; and soft tissue injuries, such as bruises and scrapes.

The risk of injury can be reduced by stretching before and after a workout, taking frequent breaks when strength training, using proper form when lifting weights, and wearing appropriate shoes for each activity.

Common Fitness Industry Injuries

Injuries are common in the fitness industry, and it’s essential to understand why. Most injuries that occur in the gym are due to overuse. When you exercise regularly, your muscles and joints are put under increased strain and pressure. The more you train, the more they can take. However, there comes the point where your body is pushed beyond its limit, and an injury occurs. There’s a greater risk of injury when you work out too hard or without adequate recovery time between sessions. This is especially true if you’re lifting weights or making repetitive motions.

Importance of Fitness Industry Injuries

It’s also important to be aware of your medical history and any pre-existing conditions that could put you at risk of injury. Talk to your doctor if you have any concerns about your health before starting a new exercise program.

Awareness of Fitness Industry Injuries

With suitable precautions and awareness, you can reduce the risk of injury and enjoy a safe and effective workout routine tailored to your needs.

It’s important to know that exercise isn’t a one-size-fits-all endeavor. Even though you may be able to do pushups for bench presses, lifting weights for pullups, pullups for rows, and leg presses for leg presses, each exercise has its benefits and can lead to different postures and movements.

Conclusion

As you exercise, please pay attention to the different parts of your muscles, how they feel, and how you move between sets. You’ll want to focus on the back muscles if you’re doing pullups. If you’re doing rows, you’ll want to pay attention to the traps, shoulders, and biceps. If you’re doing leg presses, you’ll want to focus on the hamstrings and glutes. These are just a few examples of mixing up your routine to keep your muscles guessing and stay fresh as you work out. As you progress, changing your exercises, reps, and sets is a good idea to keep everything fresh and prevent your muscles from overloading.

When I was down at the NFBA conference in Seattle, Washington, I swung by Kirkland, Washington, to visit my friend Belton Lubas and Rommel Acadia. They both attended a fitness education course I hosted a few years back in New Westminster, BC, Canada.

Since then, I have run into Belton in Orlando, Florida. We also did an interview there; you can check it out here: exercise rehabilitation interview.

I have known Belton for two years. It seems like every time I see him; he interviews me.

While visiting his facility, we did another video interview.

In the Interview, this is what Belton and I chat About: – Which fitness trends have increased my post-injury personal training business– The percentage of people that are not ready for a fitness program– A new trend in the fitness industry to help your clients prevent injuries– Importance of adding an apple a day exercise to keep injuries away– Learning never ends when you want to be the best fitness professional you can

Check out Belton and Rommel at Element 5 Fitness if you are looking for Kirkland personal trainers.
